Walk to the 10

A performance by Sarah Waelchli and Roshanak Morrowatian

Two dancers explore the space around them, tracing its contours. They turn it into a playground, inventing rules as they go along. Exchanged looks lead to decisions as they quietly observe each other and provide mutual encouragement to maintain the rhythm, moving forward ever faster, ever more boldly.

By imperceptible degrees, however, the game becomes competitive. Pushing back their limits and striving to keep up with each other, they are caught in a web of rivalry and betrayal. The tension mounts and the game spirals out of control until the dancers finally realize the absurd and futile nature of competition. This enables them to recover their autonomy, regain a sense of solidarity and peace.
